Strange Killings & Strong Medicine
I just got done reading both of these books by Warren Ellis, published by Avatar.
Let me start with Strange Killings. What a nasty, crowd talking, awesome book. A prison has been taken over both the inmates so the British government sends in the S.A.S. Something they didn’t expect was inside, call William Gravel - Magician. The inmates had been turned to zombies and controlled by one man.

Now onto Strange Killings: Strong Medicine. A kid is found . Gravel is black mailed into solving a case about a decapitated and disemboweled kid. This turns into a race to catch the killer before the next kid ends up dead.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies trailer!
I loved this arc/trade, and I love what DC has dome with thier direct-to-DVD movies so far, so it’s pretty much a give that I am lo0king forward to this!!
Thoughts on Smallville Season Finale
Eight years. Damn. I’ve never even had a car or held a job that long, but I’ve been a loyal and faithful watcher of Smallville. Smallville is always known for good season finales, whether it’s a gripping cliffhanger or rock-em-sock-em action, it has always delivered. When the final credits rolled after the conclusion of the season 8 finale, all I said was “huh?”
But now that I’ve had the weekend to think about it, I really enjoyed the season finale. I’ve read a few reviews online and visited the fan site, kryptonsite.com, the general consensus seems to be disappointment. Not me, like the entire season, I loved it. Let’s break it down.
(spoilers, obviously, if you haven’t seen it.)
Comic Boy shows up. Tells Clark he’s got a day to live unless he can destroy Doomsday before that. Clark is adamant that Doomsday’s human side, Davis Bloome, is worth saving. Killing Domsday would mean killing Davis, and Clark just cannot do that. The solution? Split the human Davis from Doomsday using black kryptonite. Impressive, it’s actually a decent plan, Clark.
The Clark and Lois dynamic was great. I was smelling a setup for next season, and that still may be the case, but then out of left field, Lois accidentally finds Clark’s Legion ring and *poof* vanishes. Where did she go? The future? But not before a catfight with Tess, probably the best action sequence of the episode.
So Clark is running down the plan with the Justice League when Oliver/Green Arrow shows up and opposes Clark’s plan. He thinks they should just kill Doomsday and not bother with trying to split them. Clark calls Oliver out on blowing up Lex (if it was even really Lex, I have my doubts), and calls him a murderer, dismissing him from the team. Very tense moment.
So on with the plan. Clark finds where Davis and Chloe are and they head out. Except Clark suddenly finds a green kryptonite arrow in his back. He goes down, immobilized. The other members of the Justice League turn their back on him and head out with Green Arrow. Cold.
However, once they find Davis and Chloe, they do end up using the black K instead of just flat out killing Davis. It works! Doomsday smashes everything in sight and takes off, leaving Davis in a coma.
At this point Jimmy has been following some leads, and stumbles across Clark who is still on the ground withering in pain from the green K arrow stuck in his back. Jimmy removes the arrow, and Clark ends up coming clean. He tells Jimmy that he was right, he is the red blue blur. He saves people. It was a great moment in the show, very uplifting. Clark tells Jimmy to go bring Chloe and Davis somewhere safe, and to tell the Justice League he is going to Metropolis to face Doomsday and will need their help.
Working together again for the moment, Clark and the League come up with a plan to basically bury Doomsday deep inside the Earth. Now here is where some people had an issue with the episode — the Clark/Doomsday fight does not last very long. Basically, Doomsday is rampaging the streets of Metropolis and Clark shows up to stop him. Only one or two punches are thrown, but boy are they some punches! Doomsday sends Clark through like five buildings with a punch. The special effects were great in this episode. Clark bites back, driving him underground, bing bam boom the plan works. (and it’s left open for a possible return by Doomsday.)
Now like I said some people had an issue with the fight not being very long. But I enjoyed it for what it was. It’s not like the whole entire season was leading up to Clark and Doomsday fighting, I think the anticipation of their fight comes mostly from their history in the comic book, not the tv show we are talking about right now. Because when you think about it, Clark and Davis hardly had any screen time together at all throughout the entire season. The real showdown that has been building up is between Davis and Jimmy.
And it did not disappoint.
Jimmy takes Chloe and Davis (still out cold) to an apartment. He tells Chloe he bought the apartment as a wedding gift to her, before the wedding/marriage went south. They talk, he tells her he knows Clark’s secret, they realize they still love each other, they embrace. Then, Jimmy is stabbed in the gut! He turns around and there is Davis! Turns out even the human side of him was a murderous psycho. Perhaps Green Arrow was right, perhaps they should have “taken care of” him and Doomsday. Jimmy goes down, but with one last breath, charges at Davis in a rage and pushes him into some steel bars that go through his chest, killing him instantly. Jimmy collapses, and dies. Chloe is left in the room with two dead dudes.
Fast forward to Jimmy’s funeral. The minister refers to him as “Henry James Olson.” His little brother, the real Jimmy Olson, shows up, wearing a bowtie. Clark gives him Jimmy’s old camera. Turns out Jimmy was not really Jimmy all along. Kind of a neat moment.
Aside from Zod showing up on Lex’s front lawn (yes you read that correctly!), the show does not end on a true cliffhanger like many previous seasons, but there’s a lot a questions. Lois is missing, Clark tells Chloe he’s looked everywhere but cannot find her. Clark basically severs his ties with Oliver and the Justice League. Then he drops the bomb: he has given up on humanity. He’s abandoning the human side of himself; he tells Chloe that Clark Kent is dead. And with that, he walks away, leaving us wondering what exactly is in store for season 9 Smallville.

Kevin Smith to Write Batman and Green Hornet
According to Entertainment Weekly’ Popwatch column, Kevin Smith will be writing a new Batman miniseries as well as Green Hornet for Dynamite Entertainment.
The miniseries for Dynamite will be based on Smith’s screenplay for the unproduced Green Hornet movie that he wrote in 2004. “It’s the Hornet movie I’d make if I was making it today,” Smith told EW.com. “And there’s no better time to do that than before Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry’s version defines the character for the mainstream.”
Alex Ross, John Cassaday, Jae Lee and David Finch are on board as cover artists, while the interior artists for The Green Hornet is yet to be named.
In terms of Batman, Smith’s 12-issue miniseries – split into two six-part volumes – is called The Widening Gyre, and will see a new Smith-created hero for the DC Universe, who will then launch in a new, bi-monthly series written by Smith.

Megan Fox on the set of Jonah Hex
ComingSoon.net scored some exclusive shots of Megan Fox in costume on the set of her latest movie Jonah Hex. As you can see from the image below, to say that Ms. Fox is living up to her last name would be a gross understatement.
Jonah Hex is the latest in a long line of comic book movies, based around a Confederate officer from the Civil War who is badly disfigured on the right side of his face. Jonah wasn’t so much a hero as he was an anti-hero bounty hunter. Needless to say, I think they got the casting spot on with Josh Brolin.
Jonah Hex is currently filming and eyeing a release date of August 10, 2010.

Star Trek 2009
Star Trek hasn’t always been one of my favorites. I used to watch Next Generation when I was a kid and I have seen all the movies, including the new one. Out of all the movies I would have to say that the 2009 movie is my favorite. Don’t get me wrong the other movies are good in their own ways, but the new one had the best story line for me. I’m a big fan of alternate realities and what this movie did with that. I can see were some people may not have liked the way the movie played out. For me it makes me want more. Now back to watching Star Trek V.

MicroCon 2009
Every year gets better and better at the MCBA’s conventions. Thanks Guys, You Rule! Even with the rain lots of people showed up. I got to meet a lot of new people and hangout with some of my bestfriends.

Charles Raymond asked me to help out with his art table this year. We ended up talking about a couple of story ideas that we are gong to put together and try having really for FallCon 2009. I love Charles’s artwork, so I have to pick up something from what he has done over the past year and then a sketch from him. Here are the two sketch cards:

Jeremy and Tony were also there, I chatted with them about going to Wizard World Chicago this year. Josh Brown & President Nelson were looking over their project in the works. Prez also did a Secret Invasion #1 Sketch Cover for me.
Josh and I had a run in with a Sith Lord over the day too. I don’t think he liked me much!

Check out some of the other pictures I took on my Facebook or mthe Bomb Queen sketch I got from Rich McKelvey, on my DeviantArt page(VERY MATURE!!)
